liv kemp

(she/they) is an actor, singer, dancer, educator, web designer, and self-proclaimed comedian based in the Twin Cities. Originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan, she is a proud alum of Interlochen Arts Academy and the University of Minnesota/Guthrie BFA Acting program.

Liv loves workshopping new projects, rethinking classics, experimenting with music, and telling stories that uplift queer and femme voices.

Locally, Liv has worked with the Guthrie Theater, History Theatre, Theater Latté Da, Yellow Tree Theatre, The Playwright’s Center, and The Birth Play Project.

  • Since graduating with a BFA in Acting from the University of Minnesota, Liv has worked consistently around the Twin Cities in both plays and musicals. Her specialties include classical text, stage movement, comedy, and transformation. View her acting resume under the “resume” tab.

  • Liv has been giving living room performances since the age of three. With over ten years of vocal training, both classical and musical theatre, Liv loves performing music of all genres, especially in a cabaret setting. Cabaret credits include: Guthrie 60th Anniversary Gala, 16 Bar Bingo at The Hive, a self-produced Sondheim cabaret, and Verities at Minnesota Fringe.   • Beginning her ballet career at age three, Liv went on to dance competitively in ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, lyrical, and modern, for ten years before discovering theatre. Dance taught her about discipline, focus, and patience. Liv loves to incorporate dance and movement into her theatre pieces.

  • With over eight years of theatre education experience, Liv considers teaching a second love alongside performing. She has taught with the Guthrie Theater (resident teaching artist), Interlochen Arts Academy and Camp, and Young People’s Theater. She also works as a freelance voice/dialect and acting coach around the Twin Cities.

  • Liv is a skilled self-taught web-designer and is passionate about bringing artists’ online presence to life. She also is interested in social media marketing and content creation. To learn more or inquire about a project, visit the “web design” tab.

  • Some dream roles include… Dot in Sunday in the Park With George, Lady Macbeth in Macbeth, Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, Medium Alison in Fun Home, and Clara in Light in the Piazza.

    Dream projects include…BioPic movies/plays, Shakespeare adaptations and spinoffs, musical adaptations of novels, new plays about queer stories, and nerdy cabarets (think all Sondheim, “unheard of” songs, gender-bending, etc.)
